JPG, PNG and WEBP, even a whole batch at once. You'll barely see a difference in quality, but the file size drops dramatically.
Use it when a photo is too big to upload to your website or blog, when an attachment goes over the size limit for email or chat apps, when product images on your online store load too slowly, or when an ID photo or document photo has to be submitted under a set size, such as "100KB or less."
Q. Will compressing a PNG ruin its quality?
With the default setting (Keep original format), PNGs are compressed as PNGs. The colors are reduced to 256 or fewer, so transparent backgrounds stay intact, and for logos or screenshots the difference is hard to see. For photos with lots of gradients, converting to JPG or WEBP shrinks them more.
Q. Can I compress multiple images at once?
Yes. Select several files and they're processed one by one. You can download each file separately or get them all at once with "Download all as ZIP."
Q. Are my compressed files stored on a server?
No. Images are processed only with your browser's Canvas API and are never sent anywhere.
Q. How much smaller will my files get?
It depends on the image, but typical smartphone photos usually shrink by about 50–80%.
Q. How many times a day can I compress?
There's no limit. Many other online compressors cap free use at a few times a day because of server load, but Apchukso does all the processing in your own browser, so there's no server load at all. Even hundreds of images a day are free, with no limits.
Q. Should I compress images before making a PDF?
Yes. Most of a PDF's file size comes from the images inside it. If you compress the photos first and then make the PDF, you'll get a much lighter result than by compressing the finished PDF afterward.
Q. What if it has to be under 100KB, like an ID photo?
Choose 100KB under "Fit a target size" and the quality is adjusted automatically to bring the file under that size.
Q. Can a file get bigger after compression?
A photo that's already well compressed can get bigger when it's saved again. If the format hasn't changed and the result comes out larger than the original, Apchukso simply gives you the original back.
