Extract .rar and .7z files right away, even on an iPhone, a Mac, or a work PC where you can't install archive software. Password-protected and split (part1, part2) archives work, too.
.rar is the archive format made by WinRAR, and .7z is made by 7-Zip. They're common for game mods, shared files, and large downloads, but on an iPhone, a Mac, or a locked-down work PC, there's often no easy way to open them. Apchukso extracts them right in your browser. There's nothing to install and nothing to upload.
It's handy when:
Q. Do I need to install Bandizip or WinRAR?
No. All you need is a browser. It works in Safari on iPhone, on Mac, on Samsung Galaxy phones, and on Windows, even on work PCs where installing programs is blocked.
Q. Can I extract password-protected RAR or 7Z files?
Yes. Enter the password in the password box and the files will extract. It handles AES encryption in RAR4, RAR5, and 7Z, including archives with encrypted filenames. Your password is used only in this browser and never sent anywhere. Without the password, the files can't be extracted.
Q. Does it work with split archives (part1, part2)?
Yes. Select all the parts at once. It joins and extracts sets named like .part1.rar/.part2.rar, .rar/.r00/.r01, or .7z.001/.7z.002. If even one part is missing, it tells you which one.
Q. Where are extracted files saved on iPhone?
Tap "Download" on a file and it's saved to the Downloads folder in the Files app. For several files, use "Download as ZIP" to get them all at once, then tap the ZIP in the Files app to unzip it.
Q. Which archive formats can it extract?
Mainly RAR (RAR4 and RAR5) and 7Z, plus other formats 7-Zip can open, such as TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, ISO, and CAB. ZIP files are easier with the ZIP extractor, and ALZip EGG files (.egg) with the EGG extractor. ALZ, ALZip's older format, isn't supported yet.
Q. How long does it take? Is there a size limit?
In Chrome on a PC, a RAR split into 4 parts (0.2MB combined, 230MB extracted) was extracted in just over 1 second. There's no fixed size limit, but because extracted files are held in your device's memory, a few hundred MB on a phone and up to 1–2GB on a PC is a safe range. Anything bigger may stop partway.
Q. Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Apchukso has no server that receives files. Only the extraction engine (about 1.7MB) is downloaded once at the start, and your files are extracted inside the browser you're using. Once the engine is loaded, it works the same even with Wi-Fi off.
